Does a massage hurt?

Generally no but it can. It depends on what you’re looking to get out of the massage. If you want more relaxation, massage should not hurt. If there is something sore or giving you pain/stiffness, massage may or may not be painful. Also depends on the amount of pressure used and what the client can handle.

Do you take insurance?

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes. Package deals are also available and given in gift certificate form.

How often should I get a massage?

How often you get a massage differs from person to person. I have clients who come weekly, biweekly, monthly, bimonthly, etc. It depends on why each client is getting their massage. Some clients use massage as a way to pamper themselves once a year. I will never push a client into making appointments.

For some clients, they don’t want to schedule another appointment because they could be treating themselves or maybe my massage wasn’t for them, which is perfectly fine. Again everyone is different. For others, its a financial issue, they can’t afford massage on a regular basis. If a client wants to get on a regular basis for massage, therapist will have them schedule several appointments to guarantee that they stay on that regular basis.

Appointments can be cancelled without issue if the client gives enough notice.

If I’m pregnant, can I get a massage?

Women who are pregnant can get a massage but some conditions make massage a contraindication. Licensed Massage therapists can be certified in different types of massage including pregnancy massage but they don’t have to be certified to perform each massage. Since I am not currently certified in pregnancy massage, I do not massage in the first trimester. Pregnant clients must get permission/clearance from their doctor before getting a massage. If pregnant clients want to continue massage throughout her pregnancy, doctor clearance is needed before each appointment.

In some cases written consent from the client’s doctor may be required. Pregnant Clients Can Not Get A Hot Stone Massage. Too much heat can cause damage to the baby. Not Worth The Risk. I will not do it. All precautions are for the safety of the mother and child. If the therapist feels massage is unsafe, the massage WILL NOT be performed/given. Lighter pressure is used as well as different positioning (Side lying, more than likely, always on left side, keeps the baby off important blood vessels. Wedge under right hip, tilting to the left, to keep the baby off the important blood vessels (aorta and vena cava). Do you offer package discounts?

Yes, there are package deals for my two main services: Swedish and hot stone massages. From time to time (Christmas for example), I will do a different monthly special.

Do you only do full body massage or can you target certain areas?

Certain areas can be targeted or have more time spent on them if a client prefers only certain areas to be massaged, that can be done. The therapist may suggest another area to be worked on as well if it would be beneficial.

What’s the difference between a normal massage and a hot stone massage?

Hot stone massage enhances the effects of your average massage. The benefits are the same, but with the heat, it can get into the deeper muscles and loosen you up more!
